We’ve reached a milestone!
Happy Birthday to The Source.
Hello there!
Today is The Source’s one-year anniversary and I am so thankful for each any every one of you who has supported this work.
When I launched this newsletter last year, I was juggling being a new mother with a little baby and pumping every two hours. I was truly fired up to get this weekly recap to you all and I remain passionate about it till this day.
Since starting The Source, I’ve been able to commission writers of colour to give their opinions on the issues that mattered over the last year. From Elon Musk, Cynthia Erivo, Notting Hill Carnival and everything in between, we’ve covered a lot. Through your support, it has been possible to pay these incredible writers too. The Source has been privileged to also feature an exclusive interview with Journalist and President of the Washington Association of Black Journalists, Phil Lewis, as well as the voice of Andrea Simon, the Executive Director of End Violence Against Women, who recently gave us her thoughts on the issue of male violence against women which continues to plague our society.
Now, moving forward, as I announced last week, The Source will be bringing you exclusive news stories from brilliant journalists here in the UK. I can’t wait for you to read what’s in store.
This newsletter can be heavy and shocking at times, but I’ve taken comfort in the fact that you’ve stayed informed with me so it doesn’t feel like we’re experiencing it alone. I hope it has shed a light on the experience of ethnic minority communities living in the UK.
I appreciate you all and thank you for your kindness and support. It has kept me going more than you know. 🎂♥️
Yours
Melissa Sigodo
