Hi all,

Coming to you again on a Sunday and it will likely be the same next week which will be the last newsletter of 2025.

I can’t believe how quickly time has flown and how much has happened. As I mentioned last week, I’ll be putting together the top stories of the year for you all next week. You might need a big glass of wine or a strong cup of tea to take it all in.

Without further ado, here’s the news you shouldn’t have missed this week.

Housing

A mum and her children aged nine and 12 were forced to live with sewage pouring out of the toilet and shower in temporary housing where Enfield council paid a private landlord £2,543 a month to rent. Fauzia and her kids had been evicted from their previous home after the landlord decided to sell the property. (Contains horrific images of sewage) Full story.

An entire block of residents has been ordered to leave their buildings less than three weeks before Christmas. The tenants have been given two months notice which has left them stressed with one woman saying she had started to lose her hair. Full story.

Residents have been left living behind scaffolding as plans to remove dangerous cladding have dragged on leaving tenants with mould and one man with £75,000 in service charge arrears. Full story.

Awards

The father of 15-year-old Queens Park Rangers footballer Kiyan Prince who was murdered after trying to break up a fight outside his school has received the Helen Rollason Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Dr Mark Prince OBE created The Kiyan Prince Foundation which aims to get young people away from knife crime through boxing. Full story.
