Babies and toddlers have been referred to the government’s counter-terrorism scheme Prevent hundreds of times since 2016 with most referrals citing “Islamist” concerns, data obtained by Hyphen has revealed. Alexander Gent, the chair of the National Association of Muslim Police says that she “struggled to understand” how children who cannot speak can comprehend extremist ideology. Alleged Male Violence Against Women

The search to find the fugitive husband of a woman Harshita Brella who was murdered at her home with her body later being discovered in the boot of has entered its 12th month as he remains on the run. Watch the report by Ria Chatterjee at Channel 4.


West Midlands Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a woman in her 30s was “kicked in the back” while walking along the road. Read the full story by BBC.

A woman was sprayed with a substance, subjected to racial abuse and grabbed by her hair during a day out with her sister and two young kids in central London. Police have now released a picture of a couple they would like to speak to. Read the appeal by British Transport Police.

Mental Health

A patient at a mental health facility who had paranoid schizophrenia and stopped taking his medication after the death of two relatives was pinned down and forcibly medicated. Adrian Francis then suffered an “adverse reaction” and his health declined before he collapsed on the floor and later died. His family are now demanding answers. A London firefighter Zekel Johnson, 30, who rescued three children from an “intense” and “incredibly hot” flat fire on his fourth day in the job has been praised for his “assured and calm response.” Fire crews said conditions were nothing like they had faced before. A teenager has made history by becoming the first Black female to ride in a jump race in the UK. Aamilah Aswat, 19, said she was “proud” of the achievement and hopes others will look up to her. Read the full story by ITV News.

Legal

A former police inspector Khizra Bano who previously won an officer of the year award is to receive a six-figure sum after settling with West Midlands Police after accusing them of victimisation and disability discrimination. Read the full story by Eleanor Lawson at BBC.


The Metropolitan Police will take no further action over allegations that singer Pascal Robinson-Foster who is part of punk, rap duo Bob Vylan was heard in footage saying “death to the IDF (Israel Defence League)” at a concert. A spokesperson for the force said the Crown Prosecution Service “determined that, based on the information and material available, there would likely be insufficient evidence to take the case forward.” Read the full story by Sky News.
